Old Haunts, Walkers, Langer and Titcheners

Firstly apologies for the few days delay getting back on track with the blog.  Put it down to busy enjoying ourselves and some quick change of venues.  Planning on three days of updates today.
Up at 8am somewhat rejuvenated after 12 hours kip.  Today was the day to shop in Daventry and visited TESCO again.  It’s funny how a retail store can capture the interest of the touring Canadian; especially one that has beer and wine on sale.  Liquor in Canada can only be purchased from a liquor store.

We took time out to pose a Walkers Cheese and Onion Crisps shot specially for Jayne back at Mission Hospice.  Kim is under pressure to make sure said flavour finds its way into our luggage for the trip home.

I paused to view Daventry Nick and called on numerous memories or working with colleagues at that fine establishment.

We raided the cashpoint again and then toured the shops we used to patronise when in Brington.  Quality Butchers, the very excellent Waitrose and more old buildings now an established part of our daily diet.  Gillings Butcher was always a favourite for meat packs and Oliver Adams Bakery did fine Pasties and Sausage Rolls.

The clock was now ticking with Rachel Langer expected at between 1 and 2 pm and Samantha suffering from Dad withdrawal symptoms arriving dropped off by Alan.  Rachel one of Kim’s nursing colleagues from Grange Park arrived at 2pm and Samantha and I headed off soon after to collect Alexa from school.

We arrived at Abbeyfields School behind Mereway Upper School at just before 3pm and waited for Alexa’s name to be called.  Took me back to the days when I used to wait for my children 15 to 17 years ago.  Alexa emerged and our next stop was Weston Favell Shopping Centre another place well visited in past times.  Not a place to hang around for too long now but Samantha had some banking to do and a little shopping.  I also had a small shopping list despite the early morning purchases having been made.

Next stop was a tour of the Eastern District the place where I probably did most when working as a Crime Prevention Officer for Northamptonshire Police.  To Thorplands, Lumbertubs; Blackthorn, Bellinge, and then back to Thorplands, to visit Alan’s parents.  Alan, if you have been keeping up, is Samantha’s fiancé.  It was really nice to meet Betty and Tony completing the close circle of new family.

Just before 6pm it was time to head for Hunsbury and drop Samantha and Alexa off at their home before heading for the Coach House, Rachel and Kim.   It was a teary time as this was meant to be au revoir with Samantha and Alexa.  As you will soon see when you track tomorrows blog; Samantha was to change the plan to spend more time with Dad and Kim.

We were obviously over the moon.  I celebrated with another beer (archive picture).  Alan very quickly said to Samantha go spend time and take Alexa with you. So goodnight for now and see you again tomorrow.
